London's skyline rises up above the Tower of London. This view captures nearly 1000 years of architectural development.

On the south bank of the Thames, across from the Tower, this kooky building is under construction. It's reminiscent of a squat Gherkin — London's other egg-shaped building on the opposite side of the river.

And there is the Gherkin, peeking out amongst the squarish buildings like a shiny, stripey, pickle.

I know nothing about this sculpture, located somewhere in the heart of London, but I love it — in a DNA sort of way. When I shot this photo, I was unaware of how beautiful the late afternoon sky was.

This is the Tate Modern, as seen from the Millennium Bridge. I didn't visit the Tate since Julie and I were focused on our outdoor walk. The Tate will be on our to-do list for future visits.

Across the Thames from the Tate Modern is St. Paul's Cathedral. The Millennium Bridge connects these two enormous and stunningly beautiful buildings.

The Millennium Bridge affords a different view of the London skyline than that of the Tower Bridge. From here, the Gherkin is no longer visible, but 20 Fenchurch, known as the Walkie Talkie, is showcased.

Across the Thames from the Walkie Talkie, the Shard dominates the view from the Millennium Bridge.

I don't know what this church (cathedral?) is, aside from stunning with its strong-contrasting stone colors.

This is the Globe Theater, a replica of the Shakespearean Theater in which plays are performed in the round.

Here is London's Chinatown, not far from Julie's old place of employment, the National Portrait Gallery. Maybe this explains Julie's love of dim sum?
