Ahhh, the Retro Bar! This old queer bar was a hang out of Julie's, back in her London days. Seeing my darling's old stomping grounds was a very pleasant aspect of my London experience.
These are the sort of gals that hang out at the Retro Bar. They look like Minneapolis dykes — natural and wonderful.
The Shard smacks you, visually, when you come out of the tube at the London Bridge station. I, for one, dig the Shard's modernity, especially since it sits just across the Thames from the ultra old-school Tower of London.
Most of London's modern skyline is across the Thames from the Shard. This makes the Shard, in my view, all the more intense. For the time being, the Shard owns the view of the south bank of the Thames.
Wow, like my first glimpses of the Eiffel tower, the Colosseum, the Acropolis — London's tower bridge clobbers me iconically. It's astonishing, as you'll see in close-up pictures coming soon.
I chickened out and wouldn't go down the slippery, muddy steps from street level to the Thame's bank at low tide. But, my darling, in fine mudlarker tradition, scoured the river's edge for collectible rocks.
And this is the Tower of London, a place where the saying, "give me head," had a different meaning than in modern times.
From this view, the Shard peeks up behind the Tower. I wonder if this irks preservationists and traditionalists,
The Tower's moat is now grassland and the only invaders at the gates are tourists.
Here are the close-ups of the Tower Bridge I'd mentioned earlier, What the rooms in the cable-supporting buildings were/are used for, I don't know, but, holy smokes, are they beautiful. I think it's safe to say, they don't build bridges like this anymore.
Wow! This is a cable-support for a suspension bridge. I hope, one day, I'll find my way into the interiors of this structure.
