Liberty London is a luxury department store housed in a Tudor-style building. Though not authentic Tudor, Liberty is still more than a hundred years old. And, the carved interiors were done by hand, as they would have been in the 1500s.

At Liberty, Julie explored shops while I explored the building — and what a building! The first thing that stunned me was the atrium. If only I could have removed the modern light rig near the top floor to better reveal the windows above.

I made my way up, above the light rig, and found an uninterrupted view of Liberty's gorgeous atrium windows — and, marveled at the elaborate trusses full of curlicues and carving.

On the third floor, eight railing bannisters each had a unique carved character.

Sumptuous was the word that came to mind, when I saw spaces in Liberty like this one.

Faux, schmo — replica though it may be, Liberty London is a marvelous building full of beautiful stuff. I forgot to mention, Julie scored a rare pair of sneakers — Adidas with stripes in the style of Liberty London fabric.
