This is the courtyard of the Victoria and Albert museum, know as the V&A. Before visiting the galleries, Julie and I grabbed a little lunch here and basked in the unseasonably warm and dry weather that London was experiencing.

Quite like the Minneapolis Institute of Art (MIA), the V&A features a giant Dale Chihuly sculpture suspended over the museums main lobby. With all due respect to MIA, I can tell immediately that it is dwarfed by the V&A.

I suppose the V&A dwarfes most museums. Look at the size of some the artifacts on display in this room alone.

Here's another room at the V&A that houses absolutely massive and stunningly beautiful pieces.

This is a view out of an upper-level window of the V&A. This glass roof covers an area in which an old medieval staircase has been reassembled (as shown in the following photo). I think the glass roof alone is an impressive art object.

During our whirlwind tour of the V&A, Julie and I focused on ceramics, jewelry and Japanese works (both ancient and modern). For my part, I found the building itself artistically captivating. As an example, look at the tile work on this staircase.
