Here's Brighton, as seen from one side of the pier (looking west, I think).

And here is Brighton, viewed from the other side of the pier (looking East, I think).

A wind farm is visible from the end of the pier. I thought it was beautiful that the windmills were in silhouette with the sky behind them, but framed above and below by the sky and the sea.

Off the pier and back on the seaside promenade, I am in pursuit for even more fish and chips. My problem is, which place?

This place won me over with their sign, particularly the bit about line-caught and supplied-by-locals. The fish was fine, but not notably better than London's fare. Still, dining, while looking at the sea from which your meal came, is pretty special.

In order to uphold my tradition of eating something weird in each new place I visit, I thought I'd better try some jellied eels.

And then I thought, when my eel was delivered, dear Jesus, what have I done? Cold, slimy, gelatinous, with a spine that needed removal and no flavor that I could discern — my first and last encounter with jellied eels did not go well.

Sated on pier walking, fish and eels, Julie and I left the beach. Here is a parting glimpse of the pebble beach.

And here is a last glance at the sea and the remains of an old pier that closed in the 70s and burned down in 2003.

After the beach and pier, it was time to stroll a bit in the city.
