By sheer coincidence, the Tuscon Gem and Mineral Show was in full swing during our visit to the city. |

Venues scattered all over Tuscon hosted what is billed as the largest, oldest, and most prestigious gem and mineral show in the world. |

On display and sale were rough objects such as stones, crystals and fossils. Also, finished jewelry, statuary and objects such as bowls and plates. |

Shoppers could buy tiny beads for necklaces or bracelets, or boulders of every conceivable type of stone . |

Exhibitors were from every corner of the world, displaying, in some cases, minerals that came from just one spot on Earth. |

Though the venues were open to the public, much of the business conducted was wholesale. Few casual shoppers buy massive rocks like these. |
